Data protection declaration
General
24translate GmbH, registered in St. Gallen (hereinafter referred to as “24translate”) takes the protection of your personal data very seriously and complies with the relevant data protection provisions. This data protection declaration explains how 24translate collects and processes personal data. This data protection declaration is drafted in accordance with the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Although the GDPR is a regulation of the European Union, it may under certain circumstances apply in Switzerland. This is why we have drafted our data protection declaration in accordance with the standard of the GDPR. However, our data protection declaration is subject to Swiss law.
Collection and processing of personal data
We collect and process personal data strictly in compliance with the relevant data protection regulations and only within the scope that is permissible under data protection law. In particular and primarily, we collect and process personal data in the context of our business relationship with our customers or business associates where this is required to implement our transactions and business relations. To a limited extent, personal data of persons who visit our website (www.24translate.ch) is also collected. We also process personal data in connection with online marketing activities. Finally, we collect and use personal data if you interact with us, e.g. if you contact us or send us information.
Security measures
We take state-of-the-art security measures in order to ensure that the provisions of data protection law are complied with and in order to protect the data processed by us against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorised parties. We take it as a matter of course that the discrete handling of your documents is of importance to you. All our translators have signed a confidentiality agreement that guarantees this very discretion in every case. In order to ensure your documents never fall into the wrong hands, we apply SSL encryption (AES 256-bit) during data transmission.
Disclosure of data to third parties
Data is only disclosed to third parties within the scope of the statutory provisions. We only disclose the data of data subjects to third parties within the scope permitted by data protection law, e.g. where this is required to fulfil a contract or on the basis of legitimate interests in the economical and effective operation of our business (see also the provisions regarding HubSpot).
Performance of contractually agreed services / Translations
We process master data (e.g. name and addresses, and contact data) and contract data (e.g. services ordered, names of contact persons, payment information) for the purpose of performing our contractual obligations and services, such as translations.
Initial contact and consent
When a user contacts us (by email or contact form), the user’s details are processed to process the enquiry and the response.
By visiting the website, collecting or changing the data, and using the contact form, the user consents to the processing, use and disclosure of their data within the scope and in accordance with the purposes described in this data protection declaration.
The personal data disclosed by the user to 24translate in the context of the enquiry and/or order placement are processed for the purposes of order implementation and administration. They may also be processed for marketing purposes and market research purposes (cf. the provisions regarding HubSpot).
Users may at any time revoke their consent to the collection, processing and use of data and the data disclosure to third parties by writing to 24translate, Rittmeyerstrasse 13, 9014 St. Gallen, or by emailing datenschutz@24translate.ch. The revocation does not affect the lawfulness of the processing which has occurred on the basis of consent up to the point of revocation.
Requesting marketing materials by the means of contact forms:
On our website you can download free marketing documentation (e.g. white-papers, guides, check-lists). To this effect, we register your first name, last name and e-mail address. By entering your personal details, you get access to the requested contents and any future updates. Downloading the content without registering is not possible. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time. You can cancel such notifications at any time. The present Data Protection Policy contains information about our data protection practices and our commitment to protecting your privacy.
Registering a customer account
In order to register and manage a customer account and enable you to use the associated services, the data you provide will be processed. This data will be stored until the customer account is deleted. If we are under obligation to retain the data for a longer period (e.g. to comply with accountancy duties) or entitled to retain them for longer under statute (e.g. due to an ongoing legal dispute with the holder of the customer account), deletion shall take place upon expiry of the duty to retain or the statutory entitlement.
HubSpot
We use HubSpot for our online marketing activities. HubSpot is an integrated software solution which covers a number of different aspects of our online marketing. These include:
- Content management (website and blog)
- Email marketing (newsletter and automated mailings, e.g. regarding the provision of downloads)
- Social media publishing and reporting
- Reporting (e.g. traffic sources, access, etc...)
- Contact management (e.g. user segmentation and CRM)
- Landing pages and contact forms
The registration service allows users of our website to find out more about our company, to download contents and contact information and to provide further demographic information.
The data and the contents of our website are stored on servers of our software partner HubSpot. HubSpot is a software company based in the US. HubSpot has a number of subsidiaries, e.g. in Ireland. Regarding data transfers from the EEA or Switzerland to the United States or to any other non-EEA countries that may not be deemed admissible according to the data protection laws, we generally use standard contractual clauses or otherwise implement relevant tools, such as supplementary measures, in order to ensure the adequate protection needed for the transfer of that personal data. We are the data controller responsible for the processing of European customer data.

The collected information and the contents of our website which are stored on the servers of HubSpot may be used by us to contact users of our website and to find out which of the services provided by our company are of the greatest interest to our customers. We only use the collected information to optimise our marketing, and only in accordance with this data protection declaration.
Collection of data upon visiting our website
When our website is visited, data is collected, processed and used; this may include personal data. In order to display our website in your browser we need to collect and store your IP address. Currently, IP addresses are usually assigned by your provider on a dynamic basis. The address tends to change regularly, so that we are not able to identify you personally on the basis of your IP address. However, in the case of a static IP address, we would in theory be able to identify you personally in individual cases. In detail, the following data set is stored each time our website is accessed: Browser type/version, operating system used, referrer URL, host name, time of server request.
The stored data is only used for statistical purpose, not to establish a reference to a specific person. The data is also used to enable us to rectify defects. IP addresses are deleted within 72 hours.
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies” ? text files that are stored on your computer and that enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on a server in the US. Google uses this information to analyse your use of the website, to compile reports on website activities for the website operators, and to render other services related to the use of the website and of the Internet in general.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies for the purpose of making our services more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files which are placed on your computer and stored by your browser. The cookies used by us are “session cookies”, which are deleted automatically at the end of your visit. Session cookies store what is known as a session ID, through which several requests by the user’s browser may be allocated to a single session. This allows the user’s computer to be recognised when the user revisits the website. 24translate uses this type of cookie to ensure the operation and functionality of its website. Session cookies are deleted when users log out or close the browser. Cookies do not cause damage to your computer and do not contain viruses.
You can prevent the setting of cookies by blocking cookies from our website domain in your browser, e.g. by configuring an exception in your browser settings. Please consult the help function of your browser for assistance.
If you prevent the setting of cookies, the functionality of our website may be impaired. Cookies can also be deleted manually or automatically. By refraining from taking any of these measures, the user declares consent to the use of cookies in the course of the use of the website.
Google Maps
Our website displays a map by Google Maps, a service of Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. When you access this website, your IP address will be transmitted to Google. The IP address is a distinct, numerical address under which your computer sends and/or requests data to or from the Internet. The general Google privacy policy applies in this regard, available at www.google.com/policies/privacy/.
Recruitment
We love to welcome new colleagues. When you apply for one of our vacancies or subject a speculative application, we will process your data to implement the recruitment procedure and to decide whether or not to employ you. If your application is unsuccessful, we will delete your application, including all submitted documents, within two months of informing you of our decision. We reserve the right to retain your documents on the basis of legitimate interests or to comply with statutory obligations.
Newsletter
If you wish to receive the 24translate newsletter, we will need your email address. You may at any time withdraw your consent to the storage of your email address and its use for the sending of the newsletter by sending us an email.
Information, correction, revocation, deletion, contact
The owner of the data collection and the controller in terms of data processing is 24translate GmbH, registered in St. Gallen. Data subjects may contact 24translate at any time in writing at 24translate GmbH, Rittmeyerstrasse 13, 9014 St. Gallen, or by email at datenschutz@24translate.ch, to request information about the data stored regarding their person, their source (if available), the recipient or categories of recipients to whom this data has been disclosed, the purpose of storage of the data, the purpose and, where applicable, the legal bases of data processing, and the categories of personal data processed and the data subjects affected by the storage and data collection.
If data subjects have consented to the use of data, they may revoke consent at any time with effect for the future. 24translate may refuse to render the information, limit the extent of the information provided or delay provision of the information if the law allows.
Users may at any time request the deletion, collection or completion of their data by writing to 24translate at Rittmeyerstrasse 13, 9014 St. Gallen, or by emailing datenschutz@24translate.ch. The data will in this case be corrected, completed or deleted without delay, unless deletion cannot be undertaken yet due to the ongoing processing of an order or due to statutory duties to retain. In such cases, the data shall be deleted without undue delay following the final completion of the order. Data stored by 24translate will also be deleted upon the expiry of the statutory or contractual retention period, or if 24translate no longer requires the data.
